Statti Greco Calabria Bianco

A Greco Bianco that shows what Calabria has to offer in terms of white wines: fresh, spicy, with a clear structure.

The Statti winery is located in the Lamezia Plain in the heart of Calabria – one of the few plains in a region otherwise dominated by mountains and coastline. The Statti family has cultivated their estate for generations and is dedicated to the indigenous Greco Bianco grape variety, which has been native to Calabria since antiquity.

In the cellar, meticulous work is carried out: The grapes go straight to the press, some of them with a deliberately extended maceration period – this gives the wine aromatic depth without sacrificing its freshness. Fermentation takes place under temperature control, which protects the varietal aromas.

In the glass, this is a vibrant white wine with notes of citrus peel, white peach, and a hint of dried herbs – typical of Greco Bianco from warmer climates. The acidity is fresh without being harsh, the body is medium-bodied, and the finish is spicy and dry. Gambero Rosso awarded the 2018 vintage two glasses.

Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with grilled fish, seafood pasta, or goat cheese with fresh herbs. Drink now or cellar until 2026.

State

Calabria – “Enotria Tellus,” land of wine. Wine has been cultivated here for millennia, and over two thousand years ago the Greeks brought indigenous grape varieties with them. Brothers Antonio and Alberto Statti have dedicated themselves to reviving this tradition. Their goal: to offer a modern interpretation of Calabria and to raise international awareness of the importance of these ancient grape varieties. A challenge, as Calabrian wines are virtually unknown today. The Stattis want to restore the excellent reputation they enjoyed in antiquity. A mission with a distinct flavor.
