Hermitage Ligne de Crête Lieu-dit Grandes Vignes AC

This Hermitage comes from the top of the hill: The lieu-dit Les Grandes Vignes is located right at the top of the Ligne de Crête. The wine is dense, spicy and tightly structured, a Syrah with great depth and mineral pull.

Delas cultivates Syrah vines here on a very thin, stony layer over primary rock. The barren conditions provide concentrated fruit. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging for up to 20 months in barrels, with the use of new wood being deliberately limited.

On the nose, spices and leather meet blackberry, redcurrant, floral nuances, licorice and incense. On the palate, the wine feels dense and deep, carried by broad, polished tannins. The finish is long and mineral-driven.

Serve it at 16 to 18 °C. It goes with braised lamb, beef cheeks or aged hard cheese and is a wine for special occasions at the dinner table.

The Domaine

Delas

Maison Delas Frères – the soul of the Rhône Valley. A traditional house since 1835, but 1996 brought the turning point. Fabrice Rosset and oenologist Jacques Grange took over – and made Delas one of the "big four" of the Rhône.

Grange, with Burgundian experience, focuses on elegance instead of pure power. Parcel-by-parcel vinification, uncompromising terroir focus. 32 hectares of their own top sites: Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage. The result: wines with freshness, depth, and character.

In 2019, Delas moved into the new cellar vault in Tain-l'Hermitage – after almost 190 years into the light, where it has long belonged. Rhône as it tastes.
