Harmonium Sicilia

Harmonium Sicilia
Nero d'Avola in its purest form — and proof that Sicily's flagship grape variety can be deep and elegant at the same time.
Firriato is one of the island's most well-known wineries. The soils around Trapani, volcanic and mineral-rich, give the Nero d'Avola a structure that it rarely achieves in hotter, flatter sites. The Harmonium is the house's flagship — named after the harmony created by twelve months of maturation in barriques made of French, American, and Russian oak.
In the glass, it glows deep ruby red. On the nose, ripe blackberry and plum, underlaid by a hint of cedar wood and dark cocoa. On the palate, medium body with pleasantly velvety tannins — not heavy, but present. The finish is long and slightly spicy, with an aftertaste of dried herbs.
- Food: Braised lamb shank, wild boar salsiccia, mature Pecorino
- Temperature: 16–18 °C

Firriato – a winery in Sicily, founded in 1985 by Salvatore Di Gaetano and his wife Vinizia Novara. What they have built is now one of the largest and most highly regarded wineries on the island. Six locations in western Sicily, encompassing around 300 hectares of vineyards on tuff and red sand. They produce 4.25 million bottles annually, three-quarters of which are exported to over 30 countries. Predominant grape varieties are Nero d'Avola and Grillo, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah. Organic farming according to "BioAgriCert" standards and a Gambero Rosso star – this is top-class Sicilian wine that you can taste.
