Matarocchio Bolgheri DOC Superiore

This varietal wine is complex on the nose with hints of mint, cocoa, peperoncino, plum, and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is enveloping and long with silky tannins. In the aftertaste, mint and bitter cocoa are perceived again. A wine with great aging potential and an authentic expression of a single-varietal Cabernet Franc.

The Winery

Guado al Tasso

Super Tuscans – a style that changed the wine world. What began with Mario Incisa della Rocchetta's private Cabernet cultivation was perfected by his nephew Piero Antinori and oenologist Giacomo Tachis: the world-famous Sassicaia. Shortly thereafter followed Tignanello – Sangiovese without any white wine content.

Because the laws only allowed them to be classified as "table wine," prices rose to astronomical levels. Today, Sassicaia, Tignanello, Masseto, and Ornellaia are among the icons. What they have in common: structure, full-bodiedness, and the courage to innovate.
