Ginger Spirit 50% vol distillate made from pure ginger 0.5L

The Ginger Spirit from Nonino is a distillate made from pure ginger, clear, dry, and powerful in its appearance with 50% vol. It is one of the more unusual specialties from a house that is otherwise primarily known for grappa and pomace distillates.

Nonino Distillatori is based in Friuli, in the northeast of Italy, and is considered one of the most famous distilleries in the country. For this spirit, fresh ginger is fermented and distilled in traditional steam stills. This preserves the essential oils of the root.

Citrus, lemongrass, and peppery spice rise in the nose, along with fine herbal notes. On the palate, the spirit feels warm and full-bodied; the natural heat of the ginger carries citrus freshness and exotic spice into a long finish.

Serve it neat at about 8 °C as a quiet digestif. You can also spray it over raw fish, fresh fruit, or dark chocolate. In cocktails, it brings a spicy profile, for example in a Moscow Mule.

What was once considered a rustic pomace brandy drink, Nonino has turned into an elegant world-class spirit. The three sisters Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta continue the legacy of their parents Giannola and Benito today – and were named the best distillery in the world in 2020. A merit that shows in every detail: from the hand-blown Murano bottles to the aged Gran Riserva.
