The Grappa Nonino 43° is a clear pomace brandy from Friuli: straightforward in style, powerful at 43% vol, but not sharp. It shows what a grappa tastes like when craftsmanship takes precedence over effect.

Nonino Distillatori is one of Italy's most famous grappa distillers and works according to family tradition. For this Friulana, fresh pomace from white and red grapes from Friuli goes into the still. The freshness of the raw material is crucial, as pomace must be processed quickly after pressing. Distillation is carried out discontinuously with steam in copper stills. In this elaborate process, each batch is distilled individually, which shapes the clear, typical aroma.

Bread crust and licorice meet in the nose. On the palate, it feels straightforward and elegant, and the finish remains persistent. Drink it neat at 16 to 18 °C from a slender tulip glass, classically after a meal as a digestif or with an espresso. It is also suitable as a base for long drinks and cocktails if you are looking for a clear pomace brandy with character.

What was once considered a rustic pomace brandy drink, Nonino has turned into an elegant world-class spirit. The three sisters Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta continue the legacy of their parents Giannola and Benito today – and were named the best distillery in the world in 2020. A merit that shows in every detail: from the hand-blown Murano bottles to the aged Gran Riserva.
