Single-varietal Grappa made from Picolit pomace: The Cru Monovitigno by Nonino comes from Savorgnano in the Colli Orientali del Friuli and has 50% ABV. Not a casual digestif, but a Grappa with tension and structure.

In 1973, Nonino launched the first single-varietal Grappa with the Monovitigno®: The pomace of a single grape variety is distilled separately, in this case from the rare Picolit grape. The distillation is carried out discontinuously in copper steam stills, with the heads and tails separated. It is bottled by hand in mouth-blown spherical bottles, each with a vintage and number.

Clear and crystalline in the glass, finely nuanced in the bouquet, powerful and straightforward on the palate. At 50% ABV, a tulip glass and small sips help; a few drops of water open up the aromas.

Serve it neat at room temperature as the conclusion to a long meal. The numbered 0.2-liter bottle is also suitable as a gift for friends of Italian distilling art.

The three sisters Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta continue the legacy of their parents Giannola and Benito today – and were named the best distillery in the world in 2020. A merit that shows in every detail: from the hand-blown Murano bottles to the aged Gran Riserva.
