Gesellmann ZB - Zweigelt Blaufränkisch

A Burgenland red wine that combines two of the most important Austrian grape varieties: Zweigelt brings accessibility and red fruit play, Blaufränkisch the typical spice and tension.

The Weingut Gesellmann in Deutschkreutz is located in Central Burgenland — a region that has raised Blaufränkisch and whose soils of gravel, clay, and lime give the red wines an unmistakable mineral contour. Gesellmann is one of the reliable addresses in the region, known for artisanally clean vinification and variety-typical depth.

The ZB matures for 11 months in large wooden barrels — not aging that covers the fruit, but one that integrates it. In the glass, darker cherry and blackberry appear, plus aromas of violets, mild pepper, and a hint of smoke. The mid-palate is juicy, the tannins grippy but not hard, the finish has a pleasant spice that is typical for Blaufränkisch.
