Gant Merlot Riserva DOC

The Gant is the Riserva Merlot from Cantina Andrian – a South Tyrolean red wine that needs time and rewards it: dense, dark, with real depth.

Cantina Andrian is located in the Adige Valley north of Bolzano, where the alpine climate meets Mediterranean warmth. The high altitude ensures cool nights, which impart structure and freshness to the wine – unusual for Merlot, but typical for South Tyrol. The Riserva classification signifies extended aging in the cellar before the bottle leaves the winery.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red with a garnet rim. The nose offers ripe plum, blackcurrant, and a hint of dried prune – concentrated, yet not heavy. On the palate, it has a dense body with firm but well-integrated tannins that leave room for further development. The finish is long, spicy, and pleasantly warming.

Drinking recommendation: Ready to drink now, but will continue to develop until 2029+. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with braised beef, venison ragù on pappardelle or pecorino stagionato.

Cantina Andrian

Cantina Andrian – this is South Tyrol as it should be: rooted in a long history, yet never stagnant. Behind this winery lies a conviction that you can taste in every glass: tradition is not a museum. It is something living, constantly evolving – harvest after harvest, generation after generation. The people at Andrian are always searching for new paths, without forgetting their roots. What does that mean? Wines that embody the soul of the place – the cool mountain air, the mineral-rich soils, the unique character of alpine vineyards – and yet feel fresh and contemporary. Not just managing the status quo, but a truly distinctive style. When you open a wine from Andrian, you drink a piece of South Tyrol – vibrant, honest, and full of character.
