Franz Keller Bassgeige Weissburgunder Erste Lage trocken
For the Keller family, it all started with gastronomy. The Schwarzer Adler (Black Eagle) has stood for the pinnacle of Baden's culinary culture for decades. The restaurant has held a Michelin star continuously since 1969. Developing wines as the perfect companions to fine food has therefore always been a central tenet of winemaking at the Franz Keller Schwarzer Adler winery. In the vineyard and cellar, as in the restaurant kitchens, the greatest attention is paid to the grapes themselves. Only grapes of exceptional quality – so the conviction goes – can later develop their own unique, terroir- and estate-specific character in the wine. The vines grow in the Kaiserstuhl region, the warmest wine region in Germany, whose climate is influenced by the Mediterranean climate via the Burgundian Gate. These favorable conditions, together with the exceptional quality potential of the volcanic weathering soils and their sometimes up to 30-meter-thick, calcareous loess loam layers, give the wines their diverse aromas, pronounced fruit and minerality, and contribute to their typical finesse and elegance. Franz Keller and subsequently the current owner, Fritz Keller, have led the Franz Keller Schwarzer Adler winery to the top of the national wine scene. Their numerous award-winning wines are among the best in the Kaiserstuhl region and enjoy international renown. A robust body, a delicate wine with an aromatic profile of apple, quince, honeydew melon, and peach. Eichelmann awarded 89 points for the 2014 vintage.

Franz Keller Winery – Baden wine culture since 1892. Today run by Fritz Keller, who, in addition to his winemaking, is also a hotelier and president of SC Freiburg. Just ten kilometers from the French border, in Oberbergen, lies one of Germany's largest and most internationally acclaimed wineries. 35 hectares of vineyards, spread across eight sites. Among the best are the Oberbergener Bassgeige and the Pulverbuck. Loess, volcanic rock, and weathered basalt – here, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc primarily thrive. 200,000 bottles full of character are produced annually. And for those who wish to extend their stay: the Hotel "Schwarzer Adler" and the Restaurant "Kellerwirtschaft" extend a warm welcome. Baden, as he lives.
