Eichberg Spätburgunder GG

The Eichberg vineyard is one of the great Pinot Noir sites in the Kaiserstuhl region — and Franz Keller's interpretation of it shows why. Not a loud wine, but one with depth and a long finish.

The Franz Keller winery is one of the leading producers of Pinot Noir in Germany. In Oberbergen am Kaiserstuhl, the family cultivates steep slopes on volcanic weathered soil – this gives the wines their characteristic mineral tension. The Eichberg vineyard holds the status of Grosses Gewächs, the highest quality level of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).

On the nose, cold smoke, myrtle, and a hint of suede—before dried cherry and dark chocolate follow. On the palate, a firm body with real power, yet velvety, finely integrated tannins. The spice remains present from the first sip through the long finish, where teak, roasted notes, and milk chocolate accompany the fruit. Complex, balanced, with great elegance in the finale.

Serving suggestion: Now with wild duck, venison fillet or mature Époisses. Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Drinking window 2025–2034.
