Fleurie Château des Jacques

Fleurie Château des Jacques
Fleurie is considered the most romantic of the ten Beaujolais Crus – and the Château des Jacques shows why. Here, the light hand of the Gamay grape meets Burgundian seriousness.
Château des Jacques has been part of Maison Louis Jadot since 1996 and is the flagship winery for serious Cru Beaujolais. The sites in Fleurie are located on granitic soils, which give the Gamay its characteristic freshness and mineral depth. Vinification is carried out with the goal of letting the terroir speak – no over-extraction, no heavy wood.
In the glass, the wine glows in a clear ruby red. The nose opens with violets, fresh raspberry, and a hint of peony – typical for Fleurie, which does not bear its nickname “la Reine des Beaujolais” for nothing. On the palate, it appears supple with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a finish reminiscent of red currant and delicate clove. More substance than a simple Beaujolais, but never cumbersome.
- Temperature: 14–16 °C – cooler than a classic red wine, which lifts the fruit
- Food: Grilled salmon, Coq au Vin, charcuterie board, or mature goat cheese
