Birkweiler Muschelkalk Pinot Blanc

The Birkweiler Muschelkalk Weißburgunder from Dr. Wehrheim is a VDP.Ortswein (village wine) from the Southern Palatinate that expresses its terroir with remarkable precision. The approximately 200-million-year-old Muschelkalk soils – stony loam interspersed with limestone, similar to the subsoil in Burgundy and Champagne – lend the wine its typical freshness, minerality, and elegant structure.

In the glass, it displays a bright, luminous straw yellow. The nose unfolds with aromas of juicy pear, melon, apple blossom, and a hint of almond , accompanied by delicate flint and smoky-saline notes. On the palate, it is wonderfully fresh and vibrant, with lively acidity, an elegant smoothness, and a long, mineral finish that lingers long after the last sip.

With approximately 13.0% alcohol by volume and an ideal serving temperature of 10°C, it is a perfect accompaniment to oysters, seafood, fine fish, and herb-forward sauces. A Pinot Blanc with provenance, character, and great finesse.
