The Dr. Wehrheim winery is located in Birkweiler in the Southern Palatinate and is a member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP). Weingut Dr. Wehrheim is located in Birkweiler, a small wine village in the heart of the Southern Palatinate, surrounded by sites such as the Kastanienbusch and the Mandelberg. The soils here – variegated sandstone, limestone, and loess loam – directly shape the character of the wines: mineral, precise, with a depth that you can feel in the glass.
Karl Wehrheim manages around 17 hectares consistently biodynamically – herbicide-free soils, humus build-up, promotion of biodiversity. This is not a marketing decision, but an attitude that shows in every vintage. As a member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP), the winery is subject to strict quality criteria that apply from harvest to bottling – exclusively hand-picked, no compromises.
The range focuses primarily on dry white wines: Riesling with a clear acidity structure, Pinot Blanc with a creamy texture, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay from the best plots. In addition, Pinot Noir, which translates the cool nights of the Southern Palatinate into elegance. Wines for the table – with fish, light meat, or a mature cheese from the region.
