Dr. Koehler's non-prescription wine appears so light in the glass that it is almost white.
Its bouquet is reminiscent of a freshly mown meadow, wildflowers, and also hints of herbal aromas.
On the palate it is light and fresh, almost without body and with a delicate sweetness.
Dr. Koehler Over-the-Counter is produced in steel tanks.
Available without a prescription is a dealcoholized, lightly sparkling wine (Secco) from which the alcohol is removed using a special vacuum process at 27°C. This low-temperature removal process preserves the aromas and thus comes closest to the aroma of wine – without alcohol.

What does the Dr. Köhler Rezeptfrei taste like?
Light and almost white in the glass, with aromas of freshly mown meadow, meadow flowers, and a slight herbal note. Light and fresh on the palate, with a delicate prickle and mild sweetness — hardly any body, but plenty of drinkability.
Can you taste that there is no alcohol in it?
Less so than with many other non-alcoholic wines. The vacuum process at only 27°C specifically protects the aromatics — this way, the wine aroma of the Cabernet Blanc from Rheinhessen is largely preserved.
What does the Rezeptfrei pair best with?
It makes a good impression as an aperitif, as well as with crustaceans and light fish dishes. The delicate sweetness and the prickle complement fresh, not-too-heavy dishes well.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best at 8–10°C — i.e., well chilled, like a classic sparkling wine. Warmer, the prickle loses its freshness; colder, it masks the fine herbal and floral aromas.
How long does the bottle last after opening?
Dealcoholized Seccos quickly lose carbonation and freshness after opening. Best to drink within 1–2 days, stored well-sealed in the fridge.
