Donnafugata Sherazade Nero d'Avola
Sherazade is Donnafugata's calling card for Nero d'Avola in its most approachable form: fruity, lively, without the heavy hand that Sicilian red wines sometimes bring.
The Donnafugata winery is located in southwestern Sicily and has been run by the Rallo family since the 1980s. With vineyards in Contessa Entellina and on Pantelleria, it is one of the island's most influential wineries. The name Sherazade reflects Sicily's Arabic roots—both cultural and culinary.
In the glass, it displays a clear ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose offers aromas of Amarena cherry, ripe blackberry, and a hint of violet. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with soft tannins, a vibrant acidity, and a finish with a touch of spice. James Suckling awarded the 2016 vintage 90 points .
