Cusumano Insolia Terre Siciliane
An uncomplicated Sicilian wine that shows what the Insolia grape can do on the island: aromatic freshness without heaviness, with a southern character.
Cusumano is one of Sicily's most trusted wineries. This family-run estate cultivates vineyards across the island – from Alcamo to Butera – and has played a significant role in making Sicilian white wines internationally renowned. The indigenous grape variety Insolia (also known as Ansonica) has thrived on the island for centuries and, with proper vineyard management, yields vibrant, herbaceous white wines with a pleasantly moderate alcohol content.
In the glass, ripe yellow pear, white peach, and a characteristic herbal note—tarragon, almost anise-like—are revealed, distinguishing Insolia from other southern Italian white wines. The acidity is finely balanced, and the finish is smooth and luscious without any heaviness. Not a wine for the cellar, but one for the table.
Serve well chilled at 10–12 °C . Pairs well with fried calamari, grilled sea bass with capers, or a light pasta aglio e olio. Also a convincing and uncomplicated summer evening aperitif.

Cusumano – a Sicilian winery, founded in 1972 by Enrique Cusumano, now run by his sons Diego and Alberto. 502 hectares of vineyards, a family business with a clear philosophy: exclusively estate-grown grapes, including old, traditional varieties. The soils? Limestone, clay, sandstone – and, thanks to the proximity of Mount Etna, also lava and ash. Nero d'Avola, Syrah, Inzolia, Merlot, Nerello – these grapes produce red and white wines with character. Three million bottles are produced annually, with Germany and the USA being popular export markets. Sicily, as it tastes.
