Cusumano Benuara Rosso Terre Siciliane
Francesco Cusumano founded the company forty years ago. He is a winemaker with heart and soul. He believes in Sicilian wine and has the firm conviction that one can produce top wines in Sicily. He worked determinedly toward this goal. The leitmotif of Cusumano is the Cru concept.
The optimal location is determined for each grape variety. Cusumano thus started from the diversity of Sicily's terroir. He searched in Sicily for the regions that offer the best conditions for different grape varieties. There he bought vineyards.
The wines from Cusumano belong to the best that Sicily has to offer in terms of wine. They have a lot of personality and carry their own signature. They have an incredible abundance of attractive, beguiling fruit aromas and the melt of the south. Their latest achievement is vineyards around Mount Etna. Here, full-bodied, mineral volcanic wines are to be created.
The benuara shines in the glass with a rich ruby red. On the nose, it reveals an opulent bouquet with plenty of ripe cherries, fruit compote, and light mocha notes, medium-bodied, ripe tannin, and juicy finish.
This red wine cuvée from Cusumano comes from the Tenuta Presti e Pegni winery located in the hills not far from Alcamo.
"There is no more class for this price in Italy. In the town of Pachino near Siracusa, a small typical flower grows, Benuara. It gave this powerful wine its name." Dr. Jens Priewe

The Winery
Cusumano – a Sicilian winery, founded in 1972 by Enrique Cusumano, today in the hands of his sons Diego and Alberto. 502 hectares of vineyard area, a family business with a clear philosophy: exclusively their own grapes, even old, traditional grape varieties are cultivated.
The soils? Limestone, clay, sandstone – and due to the proximity to Mount Etna, also lava and ash. Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Inzolia, Merlot, Nerello – from these, red and white wines with character are created.
Three million bottles annually, popular export countries: Germany and the USA. Sicily as it tastes.
