Cusumano Benuara Rosso Terre Siciliane

Francesco Cusumano founded the winery forty years ago. He is a winemaker through and through. He believes in Sicilian wine and is firmly convinced that top-quality wines can be produced in Sicily. He worked resolutely towards this goal. Cusumano's guiding principle is the concept of cru. The optimal location is determined for each grape variety. Cusumano thus started with the diversity of Sicily's terroir. He searched Sicily for the regions that offer the best conditions for different grape varieties. There, he bought vineyards. Cusumano's wines are among the best that Sicily has to offer. They have great personality and bear their own distinctive signature. They possess an incredible abundance of attractive, captivating fruit aromas and the richness of the south. His latest acquisition is vineyards around Mount Etna. Here, he aims to produce full-bodied, mineral-driven volcanic wines. The Benuara shines in the glass with a rich ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals an opulent bouquet with plenty of ripe cherries, fruit compote, and subtle mocha notes, a medium body, ripe tannins, and a juicy finish. This red wine blend from Cusumano comes from the Tenuta Presti e Pegni winery, located in the hills near Alcamo. "You won't find more quality for this price in Italy. In the village of Pachino near Syracuse, a small, typical flower, Benuara, grows. It gave this robust wine its name." Dr. Jens Priewe, Gambero Rosso 2015: 2 glasses, Duemilavini 2015: 4 grapes

Cusumano

Cusumano – a Sicilian winery, founded in 1972 by Enrique Cusumano, now run by his sons Diego and Alberto. 502 hectares of vineyards, a family business with a clear philosophy: exclusively estate-grown grapes, including old, traditional varieties. The soils? Limestone, clay, sandstone – and, thanks to the proximity of Mount Etna, also lava and ash. Nero d'Avola, Syrah, Inzolia, Merlot, Nerello – these grapes produce red and white wines with character. Three million bottles are produced annually, with Germany and the USA being popular export markets. Sicily, as it tastes.
