Château Lacoste-Borie AOC Pauillac 2e vin de GPL

Lacoste-Borie is the second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, one of the most reliable Fifth Growths in Pauillac. This means that the grapes come from the same vineyards and follow the same philosophy—only this wine uses younger vines and more lightly structured parcels, making it more approachable earlier without sacrificing the typical Pauillac character.

Pauillac represents Cabernet Sauvignon in its most concentrated form: dark fruit, cedar, a pronounced tannin structure, and that characteristic seriousness on the finish. Lacoste-Borie embodies all of this—blackberry and blackcurrant take center stage, with graphite and a hint of tobacco in the background. The tannins are grainy and present, the body is full, and the acidity provides backbone.

Drinking window: now with decanting (at least one hour) or cellar for another three to seven years, depending on the vintage. Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Classic pairings: herb-crusted rack of lamb, entrecôte, or mature Comté cheese. A wine for the table—not for a quick sip.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the oldest and most enduring estates in the Médoc – a classic that truly deserves the title.

Nestled within the renowned Pauillac appellation, these wines bear a distinctive signature year after year: deep color, a delicate aromatic profile of ripe fruit, cassis, spices, and, with age, subtle notes of tobacco and cedar. The tannins are powerful – yet always silky.

François-Xavier Borie embodies a philosophy that harmonizes nature and skill. Patience is not just an empty word: eight to ten years of aging are what truly bring Grand-Puy-Lacoste to its full potential. A wine for those who understand that waiting is part of the enjoyment.
