Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the most reliable names in Pauillac — a Fifth Cru Classé that has embodied classic Médoc style for decades: structured, profound, and worthy of aging.

The château lies in the heart of the Pauillac appellation on gravelly soils that offer ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Since its acquisition by the Borie family in the 1970s, it has consistently focused on this style: no frills, but substance and aging potential.

In the glass, a dark ruby-colored wine with a pronounced aroma profile is revealed: blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum form the core, complemented by cedarwood and a hint of cinnamon blossom from the barrel aging. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firmly structured, well-integrated tannins—typical of Pauillac. The finish is long, with a slightly earthy character and a mineral note lingering on the aftertaste.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the oldest and most enduring estates in the Médoc – a classic that truly deserves the title.

Nestled within the renowned Pauillac appellation, these wines bear a distinctive signature year after year: deep color, a delicate aromatic profile of ripe fruit, cassis, spices, and, with age, subtle notes of tobacco and cedar. The tannins are powerful – yet always silky.

François-Xavier Borie embodies a philosophy that harmonizes nature and skill. Patience is not just an empty word: eight to ten years of aging are what truly bring Grand-Puy-Lacoste to its full potential. A wine for those who understand that waiting is part of the enjoyment.
