Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the most reliable names in Pauillac — a Fifth Cru Classé that has embodied the classic Médoc style for decades: structured, profound, worthy of aging.

The Château is located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation on gravel-rich soils that offer Cabernet Sauvignon ideal conditions. Since the takeover by the Borie family in the 1970s, it has been consistently geared towards this style: no frills, but substance and aging potential.

In the glass, it shows a dark ruby-colored wine with a distinct aroma profile: blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum form the core, plus cedar wood and a hint of cinnamon blossom from the barrique aging. On the palate, a medium-bodied structure with firmly structured, well-integrated tannins — typical Pauillac. The finish is long, slightly earthy character, mineral note in the aftertaste.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the oldest and most enduring estates in the Médoc – a classic that truly deserves the title.

Nestled within the renowned Pauillac appellation, these wines bear a distinctive signature year after year: deep color, a delicate aromatic profile of ripe fruit, cassis, spices, and, with age, subtle notes of tobacco and cedar. The tannins are powerful – yet always silky.

François-Xavier Borie embodies a philosophy that harmonizes nature and skill. Patience is not just an empty word: eight to ten years of aging are what truly bring Grand-Puy-Lacoste to its full potential. A wine for those who understand that waiting is part of the enjoyment.
