Château Clerc Milon 5ème Cru Classé Pauillac

Grape varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Pertit Verdot. Soil: River pebbles with clay and sand. Production: In the winery, the grapes are fermented on the skins, and the young wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barriques. General: In the classification of the Médoc vineyards in 1855, Château Clerc Milon was classified as a 5ème Cru. Nevertheless, it never garnered much attention in the following years. It wasn't until 1970, when Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired the nearly 34-hectare estate, which borders directly on the vineyards of Château Mouton Rothschild, that the quality of the wines rapidly improved. Some today consider Clerc Milon to be of the caliber of a 4ème Cru, although a modification of the traditional classification is hardly to be expected in the Médoc... The nose is enchanting with fresh fruit aromas of plum, blueberry, and blackcurrant. Floral notes of lilies mingle on the palate with flavors of roasted coffee and toast—simply delightful!
