Castalides Edition AOP Languedoc Pézenas

With the Castalides Edition AOP Languedoc Pézenas, you bring the concentrated, warm power of southern France to your glass. This single-varietal Syrah precisely captures the character of its Mediterranean homeland, combining fiery intensity with remarkable depth.

The La Grange winery, revived in 2008 by Renate and Rolf Freund, lies amidst the wild garrigue landscape. Here, the vines grow surrounded by rosemary, thyme, and lavender. Together with head winemaker Eric Thomas and renowned consultant Kyriakos Kynigopoulos, they create characterful terroir wines in Pézenas that combine refined elegance with the natural power of the Languedoc.

In the glass, the wine displays tremendous density. The nose is dominated by dark fruit and warm notes reminiscent of a classic rum pot. On the palate, complex roasted aromas unfold, complemented by the subtle spice of bay leaf and black pepper. The long finish is carried by ripe blackberries and distinct hints of vanilla.

Such an expressive red wine calls for robust dishes. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with braised leg of lamb, a classic beef goulash, or grilled entrecôte. This Syrah is also an excellent accompaniment to mature hard cheeses.
