La Grange Terroir Chardonnay

A Chardonnay from the Languedoc that bears the hallmarks of its origin: not a buttery bomb, but a wine with a mineral backbone and a long, spicy finish.

La Grange is one of the most reliable wineries in the Languedoc region of southern France. The estate focuses on the diversity of the region between the Mediterranean coast and the hinterland of Pézenas—limestone and clay soils that give the Chardonnay structure and freshness, even in warm vintages.

In the glass, it displays a bright golden yellow. The nose offers ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of citrus peel, underpinned by a subtle spiciness reminiscent of fennel seeds and garrigue herbs. On the palate, it is present but not heavy—the acidity keeps the wine lively, and the finish is long and spicy-mineral.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Pairs well with grilled sea bass with herbs, chicken with lemon and rosemary, or mature goat cheese. Also a good choice as a simple aperitif.

Ulrich H.

Chardonnay that goes with (almost) everything.

We liked this Chardonnay better than the Sauvignon from the same producer. The latter was simply "more acidic". With the Chardonnay, we really liked the flint in the taste.
