Cascina Ferrero Barolo

Barolo from Piedmont — that means Nebbiolo on calcareous clay, long aging time, and a wine that rewards patience. The Cascina Ferrero from Tenuta Carretta shows exactly this side of the "King of Wines".

Tenuta Carretta has been farming sites in the Roero and the Barolo DOCG for generations. The Cascina Ferrero cuvée ages for at least 36 months — 24 months of which in wooden barrels and 9 months in the bottle — before it leaves the winery. Responsible for the vinification is Mattia Vezzola, five-time award-winning oenologist of the year by Food & Travel International (most recently in 2020).

In the glass, it shows a deep garnet red. On the nose, rose petals, licorice, and cocoa, plus subtle spice notes of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, medium to full body, the acidity and tannin structure typical of Nebbiolo, long spicy finish.
