Bernkastel Schiefer Riesling dry

Bernkastel Schiefer Riesling dry
Mosel-Riesling from the slate rock near Bernkastel — clearly structured, dry and with the unmistakable mineral character of the region.
The Geheimrat J. Wegeler winery is one of the oldest estates on the Moselle. The wines come from classic vineyards around Bernkastel, characterized by Devonian slate, which stores the day's warmth and releases it slowly at night—a prerequisite for the fine acidity that makes Moselle Rieslings so age-worthy.
In the glass, it displays a golden-yellow color. The bouquet combines yellow plum and citrus peel with a subtle yeasty note, suggesting careful aging. On the palate, it is both dry and soft, with a clear, non-aggressive acidity and a slightly salty-mineral finish—this is the slate that extends directly into the glass. Falstaff 2020: 90 points for the 2018 vintage.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with grilled seafood, goat cheese, or an Asian noodle dish with lime and ginger. Also a good choice on its own as an aperitif.
