Aster Crianza Tempranillo Ribera del Duero DO La Rioja Alta

Aster Crianza is the Ribera del Duero branch of La Rioja Alta – one of the most prestigious wineries in Spain. Anyone wanting to experience Tempranillo in its rich, serious form will find it here.

La Rioja Alta was founded in Haro in 1890 and remains family-owned to this day. With the Aster winery in the Ribera del Duero, the estate cultivates one of Spain's most challenging red wine appellations: limestone-clay soils at nearly 900 meters altitude, extreme temperature variations between day and night, and Tempranillo as the sole grape variety. The Crianza matures for at least twelve months in American and French oak barrels before bottling.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red with a violet rim. The nose offers blackberry, sour cherry, and plum, underpinned by cinnamon, a hint of star anise, and the typical vanilla note of American oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with juicy fruit, well-integrated tannins, and a spicy, lingering finish.

La Rioja Alta

La Rioja Alta, SA – behind this name lies one of the most venerable names in Spanish winemaking. For over 130 years, people have worked here with a clear philosophy: patience is not a luxury, but the foundation for great wine. The winery is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta and has never been driven by trends. Instead, they focus on long barrel aging, hand-picked grapes, and a deep understanding of their vineyards. The result? Wines you won't forget – with red fruits, delicate spices, and a velvety warmth that lingers on the palate. Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived practice: Viña Alberdi was recently awarded Sustainable Wine Product of the Year – proof that tradition and responsibility go hand in hand. Four wineries, four regions – from Rioja to the Rías Baixas. But no matter where you look: the same care, the same passion.
