Amaro Quintessentia Di Erbe Riserva 35% vol Aged for 24 months in barriques 0.7L

The Amaro Quintessentia di Erbe Riserva from Nonino is an Italian herbal liqueur from Friuli: soft, amber-colored, and significantly deeper than a classic Amaro. It has 35% vol.

Nonino Distillatori stands for the art of distillation from Friuli. For this Riserva, herbs, spices, fruits, berries, and roots meet the Nonino ÙE grape brandy, which was aged in wood. The Amaro matures for 24 months in barriques, and according to the manufacturer, also in small wooden barrels. Hence the round, velvety texture.

On the nose, undergrowth and moss, ripe sultanas, passito notes, flambéed orange, and caramelized vanilla. On the palate, balanced bitter-sweetness, the fresh citrus notes are gently rounded off, the finish is long and balsamic.

Recommendation: neat at room temperature as a digestif after a rich meal, with dark chocolate, or with a cigar.

The Distillery

Nonino Distillatori

Nonino Distillatori from Percoto in Friuli has reinvented grappa – and that is no exaggeration. For generations, the Nonino family has been distilling with a passion that you can feel in every sip.

What was once considered a rustic pomace brandy drink, Nonino has turned into an elegant world-class spirit. The three sisters Cristina, Antonella and Elisabetta continue the legacy of their parents Giannola and Benito today – and were named the best distillery in the world in 2020. A merit that shows in every detail: from the hand-blown Murano bottles to the aged Gran Riserva.
