Cigales is located north of Valladolid in the Castilian highlands and is one of Spain's lesser-known Denominaciones de Origen – which makes it all the more interesting for explorers. The region is primarily known for its powerful rosé wines, which are traditionally made here from Tempranillo and a few white companion grapes. The continental climate with hot summers and cold winters ensures wines with a clear structure and good depth.
What to expect from Cigales wines
The rosé wines from Cigales are not light summer companions, but show real character: full-bodied, dry, and with a solid backbone. The region's red wines are in no way inferior – ripe fruit play, spicy notes, and a structure that can also handle longer aging.
