Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Volte

Le Volte is the gateway to the Ornellaia universe — and a red wine that lives up to this claim. Not a by-product, but a distinctive character from the Bolgheri coast.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is one of the most famous estates in Tuscany. Le Volte combines three grape varieties: Sangiovese for freshness and body, Cabernet Sauvignon for structure, and Merlot for richness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by ten months of aging in barriques—this gives the wine depth without making it heavy.

On the nose, sour cherry and elderberry, underpinned by dark chocolate and a hint of cedar. On the palate, medium-bodied, silky tannins, lively acidity, and a lingering, slightly spicy finish.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with pasta al ragù, grilled lamb chops, or a mature Pecorino Toscano. Ready to drink now, but will keep easily until 2028.

Tenuta dell' Ornellaia

Every vine rooted in the sea-swept soils has its own voice. For Ornellaia, intuitively capturing and conducting the distinctive harmony of this chorus is both an obligation and an honor. The combination of soil, sun, sea, wind, and the stories of this land shapes every wine. Ornellaia's soils are of marine, alluvial, and volcanic origin. The vineyards of Ornellaia are divided into dozens of parcels—each one a microcosm with its own identity and expression. The rows of vines are predominantly oriented southwest to capture the last rays of the sun before it sets over the sea.
