Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is the so-called second wine of the legendary Bolgheri estate — and thus anything but a second choice. What ends up in the bottle here is the result of precise selection: barriques that combine simplicity, suppleness, and structure are brought together for the final assemblage. The result is a red wine that clearly speaks the terroir of the Tuscan coast without the heaviness of some large Bordeaux blends.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is located in the heart of Bolgheri, one of the most renowned coastal strips in Tuscany. For Le Serre Nuove, the grapes come from the estate's younger vineyards — vines that bring freshness and accessibility without sacrificing the characteristic terroir. Aging takes place in barrique, which gives the Cabernet Sauvignon structure and a fine, wood-spiced depth.

In the glass, a dense red wine appears with aromas of dark cherry, cassis, and a hint of cedar wood — typical for ripe Cabernet fruit from warmer sites. The palate is supple, with well-integrated tannins and a long, spicy finish. The magnum bottle ensures particularly even aging.

Pairs with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised leg of lamb, or aged Pecorino. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Ideal for an evening where the bottle can take center stage.
