Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva

The Chianti Classico Riserva from Castello di Radda is one of those wines that brings the heart of Tuscany straight into your glass: Sangiovese from the historic core region between Florence and Siena, aged according to the strict Riserva requirements with at least 24 months of maturation.

Castello di Radda is located in the town of Radda in Chianti, one of the central municipalities of the Classico region. The soils here consist of galestro-rich slate and clay mixtures, which give the Sangiovese its characteristic tension and minerality. The Riserva classification requires longer aging in wood and in the bottle — the result is a more structured, deeper wine than the standard Annata.

In the glass, it shows the typical Sangiovese aromatics: sour cherry, dried plum, and a hint of violet, underpinned by tobacco, leather, and Mediterranean herbs. The tannins are firm but ripe, the acidity present and invigorating — both typical for Radda in Chianti. The finish is long, with a slightly earthy note reminiscent of undergrowth and red berries.

It is best served at 16–18 °C, ideally decanted an hour beforehand. It pairs classically with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar ragù over pappardelle, or aged Pecorino Toscano.
