Radda in Chianti lies in the heart of Tuscany – and this is exactly where Castello di Radda is rooted. The wines from this estate stand for what makes Chianti Classico so special: Sangiovese that grows on hilly sites between Florence and Siena, developing a depth that you can drink, not just describe. Cherry aromas, vibrant acidity, a finish with bite.

In addition to the characterful Sangiovese, the range also includes cuvées with Merlot – a counterweight that brings fullness without blurring the Tuscan signature. Three wines that show how much a clearly defined region of origin contributes to the bottle.

Castello di Radda —
Chianti Classico from Radda, consistently local

Castello di Radda is located in the medieval village of Radda in Chianti, one of the highest points in the Chianti Classico region. The Beretta family founded the winery in 2003 and built it up as part of the Agricole Gussalli Beretta group — with the clear goal of bringing the character of these clay-limestone soils into the bottle without smoothing it out.

Only local varieties grow on 45 hectares of vineyards: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Colorino. You will deliberately look in vain for international grape varieties here. The winery has been farmed organically since 2015 and has been fully certified since 2020. In the cellar, they follow the same principle of minimal intervention: long, gentle fermentations and macerations in steel tanks — sometimes up to a month — followed by aging in large wooden barrels and tonneaux. The result is wines that draw structure and freshness from the terroir, not from technology.

Anyone looking for Chianti Classico that tastes of place and craftsmanship rather than international style will find a reliable address in Castello di Radda — from the entry-level wine to the Riserva.
