Taittinger Nocturne Blue Wave

The Taittinger Nocturne Blue Wave is a Sec Champagne with a touch more residual sugar than a classic Brut — and that is exactly what makes it the ideal companion for late in the evening. The bottle itself makes a statement: a wave band that glows in the dark makes it a gesture, not just a drink.

Taittinger is one of the few large Champagne houses that is still entirely family-owned. The house traditionally relies on a high proportion of Chardonnay in its cuvées — the Nocturne is also based on this grape variety, which stands for freshness, finesse, and longevity. The foundation is classic bottle fermentation according to the Méthode Champenoise.

In the glass, it shows a bright golden yellow with fine, persistent strings of pearls. On the nose, nut pastry, biscuit, and dried apricot, plus hints of yellow peach and candied citrus fruits. On the palate, the lively acidity brings tension, while delicate roasted notes provide depth. The finish is smooth and long — the residual sugar of the Sec style remains present without becoming too heavy.

Best served at 8–10 °C. Pairs with desserts featuring citrus or peach, blue cheese, or simply enjoyed on its own as an aperitif for a special occasion.
