Champagne Taittinger Brut Réserve 6L Methuselah

The Brut Réserve is the entry-level Champagne from the House of Taittinger – and one of the most Chardonnay-focused styles in the entire Champagne market. The high Chardonnay content (around 40–50%) defines its character: bright fruit, floral lightness, and a crisp acidity.

In the glass, aromas of white peach, brioche, and citrus zest emerge, underpinned by a hint of vanilla from aging on the lees. The perlage is fine, the finish dry and fresh – not a heavyweight, but an elegant all-rounder.

Pairs well with: neat aperitif, oysters, salmon tartare, light appetizers with goat cheese. Also enjoyable with creamy pasta dishes. Serving temperature: 8–10 °C.

What does the Taittinger Brut Réserve taste like?

At what temperature should I serve a Methuselah?

8–10 °C is ideal. A 6-liter bottle takes significantly longer to cool than a standard bottle – plan for at least 4–5 hours in the refrigerator or place it in an ice bucket with water and ice.

For what occasion is a Methuselah suitable?

The 6-liter bottle corresponds to eight standard bottles and is a real appearance at large events, weddings, or anniversaries. It is usually opened and poured directly at the table – a waiter or sommelier with practice is helpful here.

How do I store the bottle before I open it?

Lying down or standing in a cool, dark place without strong temperature fluctuations. Methuselah bottles are robust due to their volume, but the cork material reacts sensitively to heat and light – so no cellar over 16 °C.

Is the Brut Réserve dry or does it have residual sugar?

It is classified as Brut – that means a residual sugar content of under 12 g/l. In taste, it seems dry and fresh, without noticeable sweetness.
