Sant'Urbano Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC

Sant'Urbano Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC
Sant'Urbano represents what Valpolicella Classico Superiore can be at its best: not an Amarone knock-off, but an independent red wine with depth and freshness at the same time.
Speri Viticoltori has been cultivating vineyards in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region around Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella for five generations. The family is among the most trusted names in the region, with a clear focus on the Classico area and its characteristic limestone and clay soils. Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara form the classic blend.
After 24 months of aging in Slavonian oak and tonneau, the Sant'Urbano displays aromas of ripe sour cherry, blackberry, and a spicy undergrowth note on the nose—along with hints of clove and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with well-structured, yet smooth tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly earthy finish. Not a heavy wine—more the kind you'll want another glass of.
Serving suggestion: Ideal with pasta al ragù, braised beef cheek, or aged Pecorino cheese. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Best enjoyed by approximately 2030.
Sometimes all it takes is a family secret passed down through seven generations. That's exactly what you'll experience at Speri Viticoltori in the heart of Valpolicella. Since 1874, the family has dedicated themselves to winemaking with passion and vision – today with 60 hectares of vineyards and an impressive philosophy: only their own grapes, only organic farming, and only native grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara.
Their masterpiece? The Amarone Sant'Urbano , which, after 24 months of aging in oak barrels, impresses with its elegance and depth. But the Ripasso , with its spicy aromas of clove and cinnamon, is also an experience. These wines aren't loud, they whisper – and that's precisely what makes them so special.
