Amarone d. Valpolicella Sant'Urbano DOCG

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico “Sant'Urbano” DOCG from Speri Viticoltori is the undisputed flagship wine of this traditional family winery in Fumane – a majestic red wine made from the finest grapes grown on the steep slopes of Monte Sant'Urbano at an altitude of 280–350 meters. The classic blend of Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes dries for approximately 100 days on bamboo racks before being vinified with a 40% weight loss.

In the glass, it shines a rich garnet red with ruby highlights . The nose is ethereal, deep, and complex with aromas of preserved black cherry, dried plum, mulberry, licorice, and dark chocolate , accompanied by leather, cedar, and subtle roasted notes. On the palate, it is majestic, warm, and full-bodied, with elegant tannins, remarkable freshness, and an endlessly long, dry finish.

Matured for 24 months in tonneaux and a further 18 months in Slavonian oak , at 15.0% ABV, served at 18°C , decanted for at least 2 hours. Aging potential until 2043. James Suckling: 94 points .

Speri Viticoltori

Sometimes all it takes is a family secret passed down through seven generations. That's exactly what you'll experience at Speri Viticoltori in the heart of Valpolicella. Since 1874, the family has dedicated themselves to winemaking with passion and vision – today with 60 hectares of vineyards and an impressive philosophy: only their own grapes, only organic farming, and only native grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara.

Their masterpiece? The Amarone Sant'Urbano , which, after 24 months of aging in oak barrels, impresses with its elegance and depth. But the Ripasso , with its spicy aromas of clove and cinnamon, is also an experience. These wines aren't loud, they whisper – and that's precisely what makes them so special.
