Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC

The Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore from Speri is a red wine with real character: deep fruit, spicy depth, and a structure that lifts it far above the typical Ripasso level.

Speri Viticoltori is one of the most traditional family businesses in Valpolicella Classico — the historical core area west of Verona. The family has farmed their vineyards for generations with a focus on the authentic expression of the Corvina grape variety. For the Ripasso, Speri consciously uses only once-used Amarone pomace — even though DOC regulations allow two passes. This renunciation protects the elegance: the wine absorbs structure and depth from the pomace without becoming heavy or over-extracted.

In the glass, it shows dark cherry, blackberry, and dried plum, underscored by notes from barrel aging: cinnamon, dark chocolate, a hint of tobacco. The tannins are firm but velvety, the acidity well-integrated — long, spicy-dry finish.

Speri Viticoltori

Sometimes all it takes is a family secret passed down through seven generations. That's exactly what you'll experience at Speri Viticoltori in the heart of Valpolicella. Since 1874, the family has dedicated themselves to winemaking with passion and vision – today with 60 hectares of vineyards and an impressive philosophy: only their own grapes, only organic farming, and only native grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara.

Their masterpiece? The Amarone Sant'Urbano , which, after 24 months of aging in oak barrels, impresses with its elegance and depth. But the Ripasso , with its spicy aromas of clove and cinnamon, is also an experience. These wines aren't loud, they whisper – and that's precisely what makes them so special.
