Pinot Noir QbA dry

Cold fireplace smoke, fresh bacon and red berry fruit — this entry-level wine from Meyer-Näkel shows why the Ahr is Germany's most important address for Pinot Noir.

The winery from Dernau has been working since the 1980s on redefining the style of Ahr red wine: away from its sweet image and towards precise, terroir-driven Burgundies. The QbA is the estate's most approachable wine—yet unmistakably Meyer-Näkel.

In the glass, it displays cherry and red currant, underpinned by cool fireplace smoke and a delicate toasty note. The body is firm, the tannins fine and only slightly drying. The acidity keeps everything lively, and the finish delivers further invigorating red fruit with subtle spice. Dry in character, with a barely perceptible sweet aftertaste.

Recommendation: Serve slightly chilled at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with lamb chops, duck breast with cherries, or a hearty beef burger. Also a reliable choice with pasta and mushroom ragout. Drink now until 2027.
