Ronco del Gelso TOC BAS Friulano Insonzo Rive Alte DOC

Ronco del Gelso TOC BAS Friulano Insonzo Rive Alte DOC
Friulano is not a grape variety that bends to expectations. If you're looking for hazelnut, bitter almond, and a slightly tart licorice note, this is the wine for you – a white wine with its own unique character that doesn't follow international models.
The Ronco del Gelso winery is located south of Cormons, in the heart of the Isonzo region of Friuli. The Rive Alte vineyard – "high banks" – reflects the characteristic gravelly soils of the Isonzo River, which impart minerality and structure to the wine. Friulano, formerly known as Tocai Friulano, is the leading grape variety of this region and has been cultivated here for generations.
In the glass, the TOC BAS displays a clear, golden-yellow color. The nose is dominated by aromas of roasted hazelnut and bitter almond, complemented by subtle herbal spice. On the palate, it has a robust body with noticeable glycerin, which lends the wine a velvety texture. The mild bitterness is reminiscent of licorice and ensures a long, dry finish.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with vitello tonnato , roast veal, pasta with white truffle, or strong mountain cheese. Drinking window: now until 2027.
