Riesling Grand Cru Kessler AC Alsace Grand Cru 0.75L

Riesling Grand Cru Kessler AC Alsace Grand Cru 0.75L
The Kessler is one of the most independent Grand Cru sites in Alsace: a wind-protected hollow with sandy-loamy soils that gives the Riesling even ripening and unusual substance. Domaines Schlumberger has been cultivating the largest contiguous Grand Cru areas in Alsace for generations and is thus one of the few companies that can exploit these sites in their full depth.
In the glass, the Riesling shows a clear, precise structure: aromas of white peach and citrus zest, underlaid by a mineral, almost chalky tone that is typical of the sandy-loamy geology of the Kessler. The palate is taut, the acidity well integrated, the finish long and salty. Vinified dry, without the fruit receding.
Good with Alsatian tarte flambée, with fried zander with butter sauce, or with mild goat cheese. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C.

Domaines Schlumberger, located in Guebwiller in southern Alsace, has been family-owned since 1810 and is one of France's most prestigious wineries. Today, the seventh generation runs the estate: Séverine and Thomas Schlumberger cultivate approximately 140 hectares of vineyards – the largest contiguous AOC vineyard in Alsace, 70 hectares of which are in four Grand Cru sites. On steep slopes with gradients of up to 50 percent, tended by draft horses and supported by over 50 kilometers of stone retaining walls, wines of great depth are produced. Schlumberger uses only its own grapes and consciously produces only half of what the law would permit.
