Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Kitterlé AC Alsace Grand Cru 0.75L
The Gewürztraminer from Kitterlé is not a wine for the indecisive: the Grand Cru site in Alsace delivers one of the most intense expressions of this grape variety — dry, complex, with a depth rarely expected from Gewürztraminer.
Domaines Schlumberger has been cultivating the steep, south-facing sandstone and granite parcels of the Kitterlé near Guebwiller for generations. With over 140 hectares of vineyards, the family winery is one of the largest private estates in Alsace — and at the same time one of the most consistent. The hillside location protects the vines from the cold, concentrates the sunlight, and forces the roots deep into the mineral-rich subsoil.
In the glass, the wine appears in a deep golden yellow. The nose opens with rose blossom, lychee, and white pepper — the classic Gewürztraminer profile, but with a spicy sharpness that points to the granite weathering soils. On the palate, it remains taut despite its aromatic richness: the acidity keeps the weight in balance, the finish is long, slightly salty, and characterized by ginger and cinnamon.
Best served at 10–12 °C. Pairs with Munster with caraway, Asian dishes with coconut milk and lemongrass, or a hearty Pâté of foie gras.

Domaines Schlumberger, located in Guebwiller in southern Alsace, has been family-owned since 1810 and is one of France's most prestigious wineries. Today, the seventh generation runs the estate: Séverine and Thomas Schlumberger cultivate approximately 140 hectares of vineyards – the largest contiguous AOC vineyard in Alsace, 70 hectares of which are in four Grand Cru sites. On steep slopes with gradients of up to 50 percent, tended by draft horses and supported by over 50 kilometers of stone retaining walls, wines of great depth are produced. Schlumberger uses only its own grapes and consciously produces only half of what the law would permit.
