Prinz Salm Grünschiefer Riesling

The green slate soil on which the distinctive Grünschiefer Riesling grows is unique and only to be found at the Prinz Salm winery.

The Grünschiefer Riesling shows a powerful yellow and possesses a mineral scent with aromas of pome and stone fruit. It is clear, calm, and delicately juicy in the mouth, has a very fine acidity and vegetal and very slightly old-wood tones. In the background, the wine is mineral, has a very good balance, and a very good finish. A very elegant and profound character wine that unmistakably reflects its origin.

Weingut Prinz Salm

VDP Member Estate

The German Weingut Prinz Salm is now managed in the 32nd generation and is located in Wallhausen in the Nahe region. It was probably founded around the year 1200. The owner of the winery is Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm and calls 18 ha of vineyard area his own. The soils of the vineyards mainly consist of green slate.

In addition to the primarily grown grape variety Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir, or even Pinot Noir grapes are also processed into wines at the Prinz Salm winery. Among the best sites are, for example, the Wallhäuser Johannisberg or the Binger Scharlachberg. Up to 120,000 bottles of wine are produced here annually.
