Peperino Toscana Rosso

Peperino Toscana Rosso
A Tuscan red wine with a clear signature: Sangiovese structure meets Merlot smoothness, aged in barrique for eight months.
Teruzzi is one of the most reliable wineries in Tuscany — located in San Gimignano, it has made a name for itself over decades for structured red wines with an international flair. The Peperino is their classic Tuscan Rosso: approachable, but not generic.
In the glass, a blend of dark cherry and red berries from the Sangiovese is revealed, complemented by the softer plum notes of the Merlot component. Eight months of aging in barriques—mostly used barrels, with only ten percent new—imparts a subtle oak spice without overpowering the fruit. The tannins are firm but well-integrated; the finish is medium-long with a touch of spice.
- Dishes: Ribollita, pasta al ragù, grilled pork tenderloin or medium-aged pecorino cheese
- Temperature: 16–18 °C
- Drinking window: ready to drink now, will keep for another 2-3 years

Teruzzi – Tuscan wine with history. Founded in 1974 by Enrico Teruzzi and his wife Carmen Puthod, the winery is located about an hour's drive southwest of Florence. Today it belongs to the Terra Moretti Group – but the roots have remained. 180 hectares of land, 94 of which are vineyards. The soils of yellow sand and clay are loose, allowing the vines to root deeply. Warm summers, cool winters – ideal conditions for Sangiovese, Merlot, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and Chardonnay. The wines mature in stainless steel or wood, with 1.2 million bottles produced annually. Tuscany that you can taste.
