Peperino Toscana Rosso

A Tuscan red wine with a clear signature: Sangiovese structure meets Merlot melt, aged in barrique for eight months.

Teruzzi is one of the reliable addresses in Tuscany — the winery is located in San Gimignano and has made a name for itself over decades for structured red wines with an international profile. The Peperino is their classic Tuscany Rosso: accessible, but not arbitrary.

In the glass, it shows a mixture of dark cherry and red berries that come from the Sangiovese, complemented by the softer plum note of the Merlot portion. The eight-month barrique aging — predominantly used barrels, only ten percent new — places a subtle wood spice underneath without covering the fruit. The tannins are firm but well-integrated; the finish is medium-long with a slight spice.

Nice entry into the Tuscan wine world

Full-bodied cuvée with very aromatic bouquet

In the price segment of the 10-euro class, expectations are naturally a bit higher than with a cheaper red wine. With this Rosso here, the investment is definitely worth it. As soon as the corkscre...

Teruzzi

Teruzzi – Tuscan wine with history. Founded in 1974 by Enrico Teruzzi and his wife Carmen Puthod, the winery is located about an hour's drive southwest of Florence. Today it belongs to the Terra Moretti Group – but the roots have remained. 180 hectares of land, 94 of which are vineyards. The soils of yellow sand and clay are loose, allowing the vines to root deeply. Warm summers, cool winters – ideal conditions for Sangiovese, Merlot, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, and Chardonnay. The wines mature in stainless steel or wood, with 1.2 million bottles produced annually. Tuscany that you can taste.
