Ockfen BOCKSTEIN Riesling dry GG

Ockfen BOCKSTEIN Riesling dry GG
The Bockstein vineyard is one of the great Saar sites — Devonian slate, steep slopes, cool climate. What grows here tastes of its place: mineral, precise, with a fruitiness that never overpowers.
The von Othegraven winery in Ockfen has been part of the Kuhn family since 2010 and has quickly worked its way back to the top of the Saar wine producers. The Riesling grapes from the steep slopes of the Bockstein vineyard are hand-harvested, the wines are spontaneously fermented, and aged in wooden barrels—classic Saarland style, without compromise.
In the glass, the GG displays a cool, flinty nose, followed by mirabelle plum and fresh herbs. On the palate, it is firmly structured, with invigorating acidity and a body that has weight without feeling heavy. The fruit remains subtle—mirabelle plum, a touch of citrus peel—embedded in a pronounced minerality. The finish is long, stony, and herbaceous.
Serving suggestion: 10–12 °C. Pairs well with grilled sea bass, pike-perch in butter sauce, or a mature Comté cheese. Drinking window: now until 2032 — with further cellaring, the wine will gain even more depth.
