Michter's US1 Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey

A classic American Straight Rye from Louisville, Kentucky — spicy, fruity and with the characteristic pepper note that distinguishes rye whiskey from bourbon.

Michter's is one of the oldest whiskey traditions in the USA. The distillery in Louisville matures its rye whiskeys in charred white oak barrels—this single barrel for between five and eight years. Each barrel is bottled individually and only released when the distillery deems the maturation to have reached its peak.

The wine displays a clear amber color in the glass. The nose offers aromas of rye bread, citrus zest, and a hint of butter. On the palate, the spicy rye notes initially dominate, followed by soft caramel tones and a distinct, dry peppery finish—long and warming.

Recommendation: Neat at room temperature or with a small ice cube to slowly release the aromas. This rye makes an excellent base for a Manhattan or Old Fashioned —its spiciness holds its own even against sweet vermouth.
