Markowitsch Carnuntum Cuvée

Dark ruby red in the glass, intense on the nose: This cuvée from Carnuntum shows what the Pannonian climate between Vienna and Slovakia gets out of red grape varieties.

Weingut Markowitsch is one of the defining names in Carnuntum – a small DAC region east of Vienna, known primarily for Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. Gernot Markowitsch played a key role in developing the Carnuntum designation of origin and focuses on clearly contoured red wines with a regional signature.

On the nose, the cuvée opens with heart cherry, blackberry, and forest fruits, underpinned by spice notes and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, juicy fruit fullness, ripe tannin without harshness, good length. The wine appears lean and elegant – not a heavy wood monster, but an everyday red wine with substance.
