Macià Batle 1856 Tinto

The 1856 Tinto is the proud anniversary cuvée from Macià Batle – the traditional winery from Santa Maria del Camí in the heart of Mallorca, founded by Macià Batle and his wife Margarita in 1856. The name is both a tribute and a claim: 170 years of passion for wine, distilled into a single bottle. This cuvée, made from the indigenous grape varieties Manto Negro and Callet, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, grows on vines up to 25 years old in Mallorca's unique island setting – where Mediterranean sun, sea breezes, and calcareous soils create a distinctive terroir.

The hand-picked grapes are selected and, after vinification in stainless steel tanks, aged for at least 12 months in French oak barriques – a decision that gives the wine depth and elegance without overpowering its varietal, Mediterranean fruit.

In the glass, a deep cherry red with brick-red reflections. The nose opens with complex aromas of ripe cherries and plums, balsamic notes, and Mediterranean herbs, underpinned by delicate vanilla, pepper, and a hint of clove. On the palate, medium tannins, subtle acidity, and a long, spicy finish.

Served at 16–18 °C with an alcohol content of 14.0–14.5% ABV, with a storage potential until 2030. A natural accompaniment to lamb fillet, grilled meats, dark poultry and aged cheeses – Mediterranean, full of character and unmistakably Mallorcan.

Macia Batle

The Spanish winery Macia Batle is located on the Balearic island of Mallorca and was founded there in 1865. The current owner is Ramón Vala Viaña. The winery is situated on the western side of the island, approximately 25 minutes from the city of Palma de Mallorca. Macia Batle has a total vineyard area of 150 hectares, characterized by soft soils with a very high calcium content. Combined with the climate, which boasts 300 days of sunshine a year and short winters with little rainfall, the soil and weather provide excellent conditions for vine growth. Macia Batle cultivates grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Callet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Prensal Blanc, and Chardonnay for its wines.
